Scott M. Hyslop, a native of Richfield, Minnesota, serves as director of parish music at The Lutheran Church of St. Lorenz in Frankenmuth, Michigan. He is also a candidate for the DMA in Church Music at the University of Michigan, as an organ student of Marilyn Mason. Prior to his work at Michigan he received the Master of Church Music Degree from Concordia University - River Forest, Illinois, and the B.S. Mus. degree from the University of Wisconsin at River Falls. He has studied composition with James Aikman, Richard Hillert, and Conrad DeJong. His organ teachers have included John Eggert, Steven Wente, and Paul Manz.
Before coming to St. Lorenz, Hyslop served congregations in Minneapolis, MN; Chicago, IL, and Stuart, FL. Mr. Hyslop has also served as the Editor of the Resource Center in Grace Notes - the newsletter of the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians, and currently in on the programming committee for the 2007 national convention of the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians. He has served on the executive boards of the Treasure Coast (FL) Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and as sub-dean for the Saginaw Valley (MI) Chapter. Mr. Hyslop has numerous published choral and instrumental works with a variety of publishing houses. He and his family reside in Birch Run, Michigan.
