Dawn Sonntag

Dawn Sonntag has served as an organist and choral conductor for over twenty years in Lutheran parishes across the US and in Germany. Currently a doctoral student in both composition and voice performance at the University of Minnesota, Dawn holds a Master of Music in choral conducting from the Ohio State University, a Master of Arts in Vocal Performance from Antioch University’s McGregor School of the Arts in Tübingen, Germany, and a graduate level artist’s diploma in piano performance from the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik in Heidelberg, Germany, where in addition to serving as organist at the Armed Forces Lutheran military chapel, she served as assistant conductor of both the Heidelberg International Choir and the German concert choir “Collegium Artium.” Dawn has composed choral, vocal, organ, piano, chamber and orchestral music, and her choral works have been performed by church, community and collegiate choral ensembles.  Currently Dawn is organist and choir director at the Norwegian Memorial Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, and is active as a vocal recitalist and soloist in the Twin Cities area. She and her husband, Dr. Holger Sonntag, reside in Carver, Minnesota, where Holger serves as pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, LCMS.
